Hamida Jahamah

Hamida Jahamah, is a visionary leader in both Humanitarian Response and the Development sector, offering more than 10 years of experience in programme and Quality management.

As the Country Director for Plan International Jordan  and previously as the Head of Technical & Quality Unit for the previous 5 years, Hamida led providing strategic vision to PlJ’s work including playing a crucial role in setting the first Country Strategy and coordinating the thematic interventions under (ECCD, GBV, SRHR, Gender, and MERL) . Previously, with Save the Children International, she led the technical support under the Syrian Emergency Response in relation to protection with a focus on localisation, sustainability and community empowerment lens. She also supported the cross-border humanitarian interventions inside Syria and in camps within her journey with Save the Children and UN Women. She has extensive expertise in Safeguarding Policy implementation, Gender Equality, and Adolescent Girls Programming and Child Protection in Emergencies.

Hamida is a Chevening Scholar and holds an MA in Applied Linguistics and Human Rights from the University of Essex in the UK.  She has also represented Jordan in different international conferences and worked with various national/government entities to shape the humanitarian and development agendas and redefine the focus on children and community’s positive engagement and leadership.
