Why Aflatoun International?

I truly believe that education is the key to reducing inequalities, tackling social injustice, eradicating poverty, and ensuring gender equality. In order to bring up a new generation of empowered citizens, we need to accelerate the inclusion of financial and social skills to education systems; and that is what Aflatoun is striving for. I am impressed by the success story of the social franchise model and the power of Aflatoun International partner network

What is your role in the organisation?

run external communications at the organisation. My main objective as a communications specialist is to raise awareness, understanding, and support for building social & financial skills for every child in the world. My task is to show the world great impact Aflatoun makes for empowering children and young people and achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Why is social and financial education important?

When I was growing up, lot of important life lessons were never taught at schools. I think in many societies we extremely need to have social and financial education implemented in schools’ curricula. For instance, we need to teach children about their essential rights and freedoms, especially girls and those who are most vulnerable. We need to raise the feeling of respect to one another among the next generation from an early age.

What do you like most about Aflatoun International?

I love that the organisation is based on a network model. This enables Aflatoun to scale up the impact and to reach so many children around the world. Hopefully, one day our efforts will lead to all children gaining social and financial skills.

How do you see the future of Aflatoun International?

see the organisation’s partner network growing, and Aflatoun International being recognised by all main stakeholders as the champion in social and financial education worldwide.
