Aaron (Alan) Wang

Aaron (Alan) Wang is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Shanghai Better Education Development Center (Be Better in short), which since its establishment in 2009, has been recognised as the largest private non-profit organisation dedicated to financial literacy education in China. Mr. Wang also serves as a Board Member of several philanthropic foundations, including the New Education Foundation, the Shimenkan Education Foundation and the Chen Yet-sen Family Foundation Limited.

He has 11 years of experience in both the education and philanthropy fields in China, especially as one of the key leaders promoting financial literacy in China. Be Better Education has covered more than one and a half million beneficiaries from more than 500 schools over the country in the past years and gathered rich experience in the field.

Mr. Wang earned his MBA degree from Hong Kong University and is studying to obtain his Ph.D. degree in Education from Suzhou University in China. 

 

Why do you work for Aflatoun International?  

I believe the concept of Social & Financial education is one of the keys to facilitate children and youth to achieve their dreams. What Aflatoun International promotes is right and important.  

What is your role at the organisation?  

I act as a special representative of Aflatoun International in China. 

How would you explain what you do to a 5-year-old?  

I teach children how to use their money in a better way. 

Why is social and financial education important?  

Social and financial education helps children set up a more realistic understanding of themselves and the community they live in, and it helps them build better habits to achieve their goals.  

What do you like most about Aflatoun International?  

What I like the most is Aflatoun’s culture which means to be equal and respecting each other in a diversified network of partners. 

What is something NGOs have to deal with that you want to fix?  

To promote our concept and act to the mass audience and get their support through their petty donation or volunteering participation. 

How do you see the future of Aflatoun International?  

I think Aflatoun Internation will become a famous brand in the international NGO world and leave a bigger impact on more people around the world.
